My family has bred Shih Tzu's since I was a little girl. My first AKC Shih Tzu remained my best friend for 14 years. I had always liked the breed; however, he is the reason I fell in love. I always thought his courageous personality and stocky frame was something I'd only find with him. I have since been proven wrong on many occasions. Though each Shih Tzu personality is different, I am glad to say some traits are just characteristic to their breed specifically.
13 years ago, I started looking around for another Shih Tzu. I was 21 years old working as a manager at local pet store. I had already spent 5 years prior working as Veterinarian Technician. I felt I finally had time to devote to a new puppy. I never knew how hard it was to find a puppy. A struggle I am sure many of you are sharing as you read this. Prices now varied from $400-$5000, however the quality also seemed to change with each price range. I had found horror stories of puppy mills, backyard breeders, fake papers, sick puppies... the works. I saw it all. It dawned on me then that I was going to invest in Breeding and Raising quality AKC Shih Tzu's. I saved up my money and bought what I call a foundation female, also known as our Parie Bear! This female was selected after well over a year of research and watching ads. It would then be well over another year and half till she was bred, and she is now the Great Great Great grandma to some of puppies here. I am happy to announce that even now entering 2022 she thrives in our home as a forever pet and will be here till her final days.
It is a common misconception that you can just breed dogs, it's not hard. Well I wish that were the case. I remember looking for a stud male. I swear I had talked to every breeder in Northern California. Some had very nice dogs and the stud fee was $2,000.00 or more. I happen to run into a woman who previously owned my male Pacey, a beautiful AKC Registered Solid Liver International Champion!!!!!! She met me to evaluate my female and saw some things I could work on in my new lines, but felt her male could help with that. We lost our sweet Pacey almost 2 years ago and I still feel the pain of losing him each day.
Good breeders recognize area of improvement in their lines. They purchase dogs to complement their breeding program. I have been working very closely with my breeder since and have met many great breeders along the way. Please take a look at my website. Most of the puppies you will see are my lines, linked directly to my foundation female. I have been very blessed to have found homes, both local and across the United States. I base everything I do off honesty, for that is the best Policy :) I am also only interested in perfect matched homes. My prices reflect that. I maintain a much lower price than my fellow breeders, why? Because I want everyone to have the opportunity of owning and loving the perfect Shih Tzu for their family. I have placed over 200 puppies produced from my lines and check in on them each year. I have had some hiccups along the way but always made adjustment and corrections to avoid it again.. My puppies sell quickly these days. So please don't hesitate to ask to be on the wait list. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it gives you an insight to how truly devoted I am to finding the right baby for your family.
